RESEARCH GOAL:
To develop natural or synthetic molecules to treat rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases more effectively, safely and inexpensively.
RESEARCH EXPERIENCE:
University of Michigan Medical School, Case Western Reserve Medical School, Zydus Cadila Pharmaceutical Company, University of Toledo
ABOUT HIS RESEARCH:
“My research is about rheumatoid arthritis. We are trying to understand the pathogenic mechanisms of this disease. How this disease happens. What are the underlying mechanisms? What are the key agents that cause this disease? And based on these findings, we are developing newer therapies that could be more effective, safer and inexpensive for the treatment of this disease.” One of the molecules he has been working with for almost a decade is an active ingredient in green tea.
